Anusara Yoga With Sarah Powell

Classes in Ripley and online
I teach yoga in a light hearted and inclusive manner and my classes will leave you feeling healthier, stronger and calmer! I teach a style called Anusara yoga which is a fabulous style that combines the skills of both learning to align and challenge your body to an appropriate level, with a heart-felt feeling a calm settle over you by the end of class ... all adding to you leaving the class feeling uplifted and ready to bounce back into your day! Come and give it a go yourself!

I'm a highly experienced teacher, so you are in truly safe hands. Together I will help you explore the full spectrum of yoga - breath, movement and meditation. I have the skills to adapt and give options for all levels of yogi, so whether you are newer or have years of experience there is always an option for you.

I teach in-person classes around the villages of Ripley and West Horsley, and also have an active online community. 

All of the groups of yogis I teach are fabulous people that are so welcoming and I always encourage a community feel - I just love watching the friendships grow ... especially over an after class coffee! There is always adds a little spiritual/calming 'message' for you to ponder on too, and this gets woven throughout the class ... so you can ponder on it at home and take your yoga into your everyday!

Classes by the term ...

I teach by the term (rather than casual drop-in) which has huge benefits for all! You get to see progress in a weekly regular practice, and I can plan classes to progress and develop your practice with care. 

When you book an in-person class, you will also receive a recorded version of the class to repeat at home! Plus if you can't make any of your classes you can simply switch it using our SwapApp to a more convenient class.

Each termis normally either 10 or 12 weeks long (and there is always an early booking discount). We also use a 'SwapApp' which allows you to switch classes if you need to miss your regular class for some reason, so you can switch in to a different class.

Join Sarah for another term of beautiful Anusara Yoga, and get your 2026 off to a wonderful start!

I have themed this 10 week term all around 'reflections' and 'reflecting'. As we move from the still of winter toward the lightness of spring, I invite you to enjoy the contrasts. Turn inward, then look outward and how they mirror each other!

Each class will offer you space to enjoy your movement in mindful & alignment way. As you move you will be challenging yourself physically, breathing deeply, and at the same time connecting to your quieter self. Through stories, reflective practices, and gorgeous sequencing, we’ll explore how the outer world mirrors our inner landscape - discovering clarity, balance, and the vibrancy that is reflected all around us and deep within us.

Come and be a part of this gathering of wonderful yogis — where we move, breath and laugh together - and often head to coffee after too!

Most classes normally book out (especially Friday and Monday) so do book early and take advantage of the Early Bird discount which ends 14th December, 2025.

Class Levels

Anusara® Level 1

Picture
Anusara yoga places an emphasis on safe and steady alignment in poses, with every class having a thoughtful, spiritual meaning and theme woven through it. This means you will be strengthening your body, mind and soul as you move through your class. In level 1 classes we also learn not to take ourselves too seriously and have some fun along the way! Join this group of friendly yogis and learn to breathe and move skilfully, meditate more deeply and connect to a calmer version of yourself. 

Wonderful for those who want to boost their zest for life and start (or end) their day with a calmer approach.

Anusara® Level 2

In Level 2 Anusara yoga we build on getting even more conscious of body and mind. Safe and steady alignment is developed further into some more challenging poses and inversions, but the emphasis on enjoyment remains! Some yoga philosophy will be skilfully woven into class to expand your knowledge of yoga on all levels (it's not all fancy poses!)

Wonderful class if you have yoga experience, and are looking to consciously evolve the energy of your practice both on the mat and also in everyday life (where the true yoga happens!)

Anusara® Restorative Classes

​If you are looking for true rest and rejuvenation, then look no further than Restorative yoga. This gentle, stilling practice is the an art of non-doing that allows your system to quieten and brings you to a place of deep listening and quietude. Everyone 

I recommend that all of us should be doing Restorative yoga, as we all need this deep healing in our busy lives. Absolutely anybody can participate, no matter what your fitness level.

Sarah will gently guide you through 30 minutes of the gentlest of poses, and then 30 minutes guided Yoga Nidra. This is a blissful class and a wonderful addition to your routine.
